A Debate Between William Lane Craig and Bart D. Ehrman on the Historical Reliability of the Resurrection
This debate took place on March 28 at College of the Holy Cross. Dr. Craig has made a special request you might can help with.
"Since Ehrman is not permitting the publication of this debate, could you help to make this address known, perhaps providing such a link at any websites you are involved with?
Thanks,
Bill"

Hey guys. I'm Mark, a loving christian husband and father of two young children. There has been an issue i've been dealing with. This issue is television and my children. I feel as if they are exposed to way to much. I'm not sure what to do. I dont want to be over bearing and controlling but I still want what is good and christian for my children. I own tons of internet filtering software. Do you guys think that theres a problem with television content when it comes to our children? Post about it, I'm sure it would be a good read for everyone.
Mark, thanks for your question. You have a good suggestion about blogging on this issue, in order to put some meat on the subject, but the short answer is yes, TV can have a negative impact on our children and it needs to be controlled.
The best way to deal with it is probably not by pulling the plug. Total isolationism will just promote ignorance and decrease Christian influence.
However, as a dad, you can control what is watched and how much is watched. Furthermore, and most important, you can watch with the kids, pick out themes that speak about the world or about beliefs and discuss these issues with them.
In this way, limited and monitored TV can be an enjoyable teaching tool for your kids and open the door to very important conversations.
I hope this helps with your thinking process.
I have the same problem Mark. Have you heard of Tivo? I heard about this new thing on the radio that they offer, or are starting to offer. Like I said, I dont know much about it, just heard about it. I'm going to do some research into this though.
I kinda have the same problem on this subject except that I don't have kids, but I'm growing more and more offended at the subject matter on tv,like the commercials and shows.I turn the channel, but it seems you can't get away from it.The ads are full of images that are crude and dirty.I can't believe they are showing during the day where kids can see it too.I feel as if the media is pushing off a "if it feels good do it" attitude on adults and vulnerable children. No wonder kids are experimenting at younger ages. But that has something to do with the parents influence too.It sounds like you guys are very involved in your kids lives, that's awesome. When my husband and I are blessed with kids, believe me we'll be monitoring this stuff too.It is good to hear other people concerned on this.

Secular Humanism VS Christianity

You should really read the debate linked to in the title. Look at it with rhetoric glasses on and see who's trying to twist most....
On TV: i was raised by openminded ppl , but even so my parents supervised when we were watching tv, even though they were a bit too strict with some shows.
Also be very careful with dramatized christian movies etc, my worst tv memory is a young girl whose legs were cut of when she ran under a train. Sure there was some christian message to justify that but i had nightmares and still while writing this i have a heavy feeling in my stomach.
