In Light of Eternity: Perspectives on Heaven
, by Randy Alcorn

Randy Alcorn’s In Light of Eternity: Perspectives on Heaven is an excellent source of information for those wondering what the other side of eternity will be like. Emphasis is placed on why this life is so important and the eternal consequences and rewards of the choices we make now. Also, he dispels myths many Christians take as fact such as, “We won’t remember anyone in heaven,” and, “Once we get to heaven, we won’t remember our lives on Earth.”

Also, Alcorn delivers the much-needed message that Christians are indeed made for another world, and we should long for our heavenly home with all the depth of our soul. Instead of cultivating a sense of what their eternal home will truly be like, many Christians have bought into Satan’s lie and are left with a shallow view of heaven that includes some sort of surreal out-of-body experience, a mundane existence of floating in the clouds, and a downright boring eternity. Alcorn deflates these notions with biblical insight and makes a strong case for what heaven will be like: a lot like earth…only better! Using Scripture, Alcorn shows that our heavenly home will include physical dwellings in a city-like setting, eating, celebrating, and spending time with other believers. Much like the citizens of any city, heavenly citizens will travel, learn, enjoy music and much more. But most importantly and unlike our current dwelling, when we get to heaven we will know our Savior face to face and fellowship with Him in person.

Chapters include interesting topics such as Can Those in Heaven See What Happens Here?, Treasures & Crowns, Gods Way of Rewarding, What Will Heaven be Like?, and He Knows How to Build. The book is concise, only 166 pages, but powerful in its message. The Christian reader will finish the book with a refreshed sense of and desire for our heavenly dwelling.
